Gibbons Is NJ’s Top Lawyer-Lobbying Firm for 13th Straight Year

For the thirteenth year in a row, Gibbons P.C. has been ranked the #1 lawyer-lobbying firm in New Jersey, according to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC), which has just released its report on 2020 lobbying expenditures in the state. Gibbons has also ranked sixth in the state among all lobbying firms.

“These rankings reflect our lawyer-lobbyists’ significant influence in Trenton and their growing presence in Washington, DC,” says Patrick C. Dunican, Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “They are able to participate in the state and federal legislative and regulatory processes in constructive ways that help our clients seize the business opportunities and navigate the challenges that can result from those processes.”

In 2020, the Gibbons Government & Regulatory Affairs Department reported a 20 percent increase in number of clients and ten percent increase in revenues over the prior year. Based just steps from the New Jersey State House in Trenton and supported by additional resources from the firm’s Newark and Red Bank offices, the Department offers a broad range of services and experience in state legislative affairs, regulatory affairs and departmental actions, administrative law, business incentives, government procurement and contracting, and political and campaign finance compliance. In addition, the firm’s Washington, DC office provides Gibbons lawyer-lobbyists a base from which to more efficiently handle federal regulatory concerns and government relations strategies with on-the-ground guidance wherever client issues may arise.

David J. Pascrell, Co-Chair of the Government & Regulatory Affairs Department, says, “2020 was an extraordinary year in so many ways. It demonstrated the power that all levels of government have to impact our lives and businesses, and in ways none of us – even those who work in government and regulatory affairs – could have predicted.” He adds, “While we expanded our practice in 2020, our approach to assisting clients was the same it has always been: we use our skill as advocates and our familiarity of process and people to help clients with their most important governmental issues.”

“Our multitalented lawyer-lobbyists were busier than ever in 2020,” notes Department Co-Chair Kevin G. Walsh. “Our clients looked to their Gibbons lawyer-lobbyists for wise counsel and a steady hand during this past year of great uncertainty, when government involved itself in everything from defining an ‘essential business’ to mandating the number of minutes between golf tee times.” He goes on to add, “In 2020, our clients succeeded because Gibbons did what we always do – deliver excellent client service as we advised businesses how to thrive in the ever-changing regulatory and legislative landscape that is New Jersey.”

Building on its longstanding NJ ELEC ranking, the Gibbons Government & Regulatory Affairs Department has recently earned additional recognition, including selection as a “Top 3” lobbying firm in the NJBIZ Reader Rankings for the past four years, as well as practice area and individual attorney inclusion in U.S. News – Best Lawyers® for the past several years.
